Cosmopolitan, vivid, creative: Cologne is a city with a great quality of life - a thriving metropolis in the heart of Europe. A city we can be proud of.
Yet we are facing major challenges. We need more affordable housing, eco-mobility, public spaces for culture and the arts. We need more livable and lovable neighbourhoods!
I want to achieve fundamental changes in how politics and administration run the city. I will implement a new, more transparent governing style.

Cologne – a City for Entrepreneurs and Start-ups
Cologne has a vast variety of businesses: start-ups, family-owned businesses, SMEs, international corporations. I want to expand on our strengths as media and trade show hub. I plan on strengthening our Universities and Colleges. Cologne deserves a forward-looking policy to boost trade, businesses and lean administration processes.
As Mayor I will:
Professionalize economic promotion & business development and downsize bureaucracy
Prioritize regional businesses in local calls for tenders
Increase funding for the cultural and creative industry
Reduce administrative obstacles for innovations and start-ups
Improve infrastructure and boost Cologne as logistics centre
Cologne – a City that Cares for You
Our future is defined by good parameters and opportunities for children, teenagers and families. Supporting families and investing in education is my highest priority. Sports are key to our health and leisure activities. I stand for equal opportunities, a self-determined life and the possibility to partake in political decisions for everyone.
As Mayor I will:
Secure adequate and high-quality Childcare of for kids of all ages
Improve the state of schools and sports facilities and buildings
Secure humane accommodation and support for Refugees
Provide accessible neighbourhoods fit for senior citizens' needs. Our senior citizens need to be able to remain in their familiar environment.

Cologne - City of Innovations
Cologne is a centre of Knowledge and Science. Universities, Colleges, Research facilities and businesses participate in research, education and teaching. Further development of our diverse educational infrastructure is key to Cologne's ability to innovate and create in the future.
As Mayor I will:
Forge a strong network of Businesses, Science community and City administration
Value and strengthen Culture as a location factor
Consider Students' Housing needs in a “Housing Master Plan”

Cologne - A City Worth Living in
Whether we meet global climate and environmental goals will decided right here in Cologne as well. That's why we need an intelligent mobility mix and a more green spaces in order to live healthy and responsible lives. I want our city to be ambitious in setting benchmarks for innovative environmental and climate protection.
As Mayor I will:
Forcefully implement an Environmental and Climate Protection Plan
Support Renewable Energy in Municipal Utility Companies and Public Services
Increase Housing Supply and its affordability
Enhance Public Spaces and Parks
Strengthen District Parliaments because they have hands-on local knowledge
Henriette Reker: Dedicated Colognian
I grew up in the Cologne neighboorhood of Bickendorf. Later I went to high school in Lindenthal (Liebfrauenschule). I left my hometown for University but always carried Cologne in my heart. I was very happy to come back to Cologne in 2010 when I got the offer to run the Department of Social Issues, Integration and the Environment. My Australian husband Perry and I very much enjoy living in the Lindenthal neighborhood.
I am looking forward to shaping our city as mayor: I want to make Cologne more loveable and livable. I am dedicated to restoring your trust in Cologne.
